Trip to Makassar: A Memorable Experience

Hello everyone.

From December 4th to 7th, 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Makassar, South Sulawesi, for a seminar and final monitoring and evaluation (monev) session as part of the Collaborative Research Initiative (RKI). I was invited to participate in this event as part of a collaborative research responsibility between Universitas Terbuka, Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU), and Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas).

During the seminar, I met many new people, which was an enriching experience. To my surprise, I also ran into Professor Prabang Setyono, who was my thesis supervisor 16 years ago when I was pursuing my master’s degree at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). It was such a nostalgic moment, catching up and reminiscing about those days!

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the stunning karst landscapes of Rammang-Rammang. The natural beauty of the area left me in awe. The unique rock formations and lush greenery were truly a sight to behold and made for some fantastic photos.

Additionally, I had a chance to take a small tour of Universitas Terbuka Makassar. Seeing the campus and interacting with the staff there was a wonderful experience, and it made me appreciate the academic community even more.

This trip was filled with unforgettable moments, and I can’t express how grateful I am for the experiences I had. I’ve included some photos below that I believe tell the story better than my words ever could.

Thank you for reading, and I can’t wait to share more adventures with you all in the future!

See you next time…
