My research in plant phytochemistry

I study the phytochemistry of Dracaena and other medicinal plants, connecting compound profiles with antibacterial, antibiofilm, and antioxidant assays.

I begin with the plant: which compounds are present, how can they be extracted, and what happens when the extracts are tested against bacteria? Much of my work centers on Dracaena phytochemistry, alongside collaborations on medicinal plants and functional foods. The areas below connect those questions to published studies.

Research areas

My published work, organized by topic.

  1. Dracaena phytochemistry

I study the phytochemistry of Dracaena species, using extraction and compound analysis to investigate antibacterial and antioxidant activity.

  2. Antibacterial and antibiofilm activity

I investigate how plant extracts affect bacterial growth, biofilm formation, and virulence-related processes.

  3. Medicinal plants and functional foods

With collaborators, I study Indonesian medicinal plants and explore how research can inform local food and community initiatives.
